What does holistic self-care really mean?
I recently had the pleasure of talking with Christy of Afternoon Equalitea, an online space where people can come together to have safe, casual, and informative conversations about topics some might otherwise find difficult or simply not have access to. It is not about starting debates or changing minds, rather it is an opportunity for us to pause, listen, and learn from each other.
And in our conversation, we discussed the meaning and practice of holistic self-care.
I founded The Holistic Lifestyle Method because I know what it feels like to be in a never-ending cycle of talk therapy, an overthinking mind, lack of good quality sleep, and not feeling comfortable in my own skin, all things I’ve struggled with for many years. I know what it’s like to feel lost and question who I really am, what I am really am, and what I want to become.
Many years ago, I was engaged to an intelligent, artistic, beautiful man, it was wonderful, until it wasn’t, leading me to realize that there was only space for him in our relationship.
For years, I played small and let my personal needs go unfulfilled for the sake of his. By the end of the relationship, I knew that I had to take bold action and commit to radical self-exploration, self-care, and profound healing to find my way back to who I wanted to be. I spent time exploring my creativity, sensuality, and desires, and spent time uncovering those natural forces that are alive within us, it led me to bloom into a more vital, more empowered, and playful woman. This was all through finding a deep and tender way to care for me, in order to truly help others.
And that is what holistic self-care is, a deep and healing way to care for yourself to bloom into the person you want to become.
With a new year upon us, it’s time to reflect before we can look ahead. Who do you want to become? What are you doing to make that your reality? Are they aligning with you to become who you really want to be? Do you feel you have the support you need? This is a PROCESS and one you do not have to do alone. Curious to learn more? I welcome you to watch the episode and reach out for a complimentary clarity call so we can start the new year off in a meaningful way.
